MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-seven police officers were required to undergo physical fitness training after they failed the body mass index (BMI) program conducted at Camp Crame in Quezon City yesterday.
A total of 86 police officers underwent physical fitness and BMI tests. Of the number, 32 are overweight and five are obese. The other policemen reached their ideal weight.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa, who supervised the tests, ordered the policemen to undergo a four-month fitness program to reduce weight.
The police officers spent their day jogging and doing pushups at the PNP transformation oval.
“If you don’t reach your ideal weight, you will not be allowed to file applications for promotion,” he said.
