MPD probes woman’s death after beauty treatment
MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District (MPD) is investigating the death of a restaurant manager after she underwent a procedure at a beauty clinic in Sampaloc, Manila on Monday afternoon, an official said yesterday.
Shyril Gee Distor, 33, was being administered a dose of glutathione by Jillian Dizon in the Glutaholics Spa when she collapsed, according to MPD homicide division chief Capt. Henry Navarro.
Distor was rushed to the UST Hospital, where she died shortly before midnight, Navarro said.
Dizon told police she was administering glutathione and an ampule of ascorbic acid when Distor collapsed.
Navarro said a sample of the antioxidant was brought to the Food and Drugs Administration as part of the investigation, while the city hall is checking if the clinic has a business permit.
Dizon, a registered nurse, presented her expired Professional Regulation Commission license during the investigation.
The clinic issued a statement on its Facebook account and asked the public to be circumspect about “harsh opinions” until the police release a report.
“No one wanted it to happen and no one in the aesthetic industry would want this to happen,” the clinic said.
