60 families lose homes in Quezon City fire
MANILA, Philippines — At least 60 families were left homeless after a fire razed a residential area in Quezon City yesterday.
The city fire department said around 30 houses made of light construction materials were destroyed by the blaze along Astora street in Barangay North Fairview.
Arson probers said the fire broke out at the house of Albert Espenida at around 2:58 p.m. and reached the third alarm before it was put out at past 4 p.m.
The nearby North Fairview Elementary School suspended classes due to the fire.
Arson investigators said a faulty electrical wiring at Espenida’s house could have caused the fire.
Damage to property was placed at P75,000.
