TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines – It is a special non-working holiday in Isabela today.
Gov. Rodolfo Albano III issued an executive order declaring the holiday to allow residents to participate in various activities during the Bambanti or Scarecrow Festival.
The festival, which started on Monday, is until tomorrow.
Provincial tourism officer Troy Miano said the festival is also a thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest and accomplishments of the province despite the calamities they experienced last year.
A trade exhibit, a fun run for the benefit of victims of Taal Volcano’s unrest and a street dancing competition are among the activities lined up as part of the celebration.
