New Eastmincom chief assumes post

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Maj. Gen. Jose Faustino Jr. assumed his post as commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) yesterday.

Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. led the turnover ceremony at Camp Panacan in this city.

Faustino led operations that resulted in the dismantling of various New People’s Army units in Davao and Soccsksargen when he was commander of the 10th Infantry Division.

A member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1988, he was former head of the 11th Intelligence Service Unit based in Davao City. H

Faustino also led the 35th Infantry Battalion and 501st Infantry Brigade.

He likewise served as commandant of cadets at the PMA and assistant chief of staff for training of the Philippine Army.
