Briton arrested for cursing at cops
MANILA, Philippines — A British national was arrested after he hurled profanities at police officers in Barangay Pasong Puti, Quezon City at past midnight yesterday.
Policemen were on routine patrol along Quirino Highway when they saw Frederick Bernabe, 42, puffing a cigarette, a violation of a city ordinance on smoking in a public place, at around 12:31 a.m., said Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo.
When policemen warned Bernabe of his violation, the foreigner shouted profanities and insulted the lawmen.
The suspect also took out a cell phone and took videos of the policemen while telling them that a memo of the ordinance be shown to him.
Bernabe was arrested and is facing charges of violating a city ordinance, unjust vexation and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority.
