P136 million shabu in tea bags seized in Sorsogon

SORSOGON, Philippines — At least 20 kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P136 million were intercepted at the port of Matnog in Sorsogon yesterday.

Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said the illegal drugs were packed in tea bags labeled Guan Yin Wang.

Irish dela Peña and Jose Lani Rocaza, both residents of Muntinlupa City, were arrested.

Police conducted the operation after receiving information that two persons carrying shabu would arrive at the port in a bus.

The drugs were supposed to be transported to Samar.

In Cavite, more than a kilo of shabu valued at P6.8 million was recovered from “high-value” suspects Paula Noah, 39, and Dolores Santos, 44, in Barangay Tejeros Convention, Rosario at around 10:45 p.m., Col. Marlon Santos, Cavite police director, said.

Also seized was the Toyota Vios used by the suspects.

Santos said Noah was previously detained on drug charges.

2 killed in drug sting

Meanwhile, in Bulacan, Melanio Teodoro and Jefferson Chaconante were killed in a drug sting in Barangay Gaya-Gaya, San Jose del Monte City on Wednesday night.

Col. Emma Libunao, Bulacan police acting director, said two caliber .38 revolvers, two sachets of shabu, marked money and a motorcycle were recovered from the fatalities.
