MANILA, Philippines — With the aim of giving more accessible healthcare to indigent residents of Taguig and Pateros, Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go opened the 57th Malasakit Center at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH) on Wednesday.
The center aspires to achieve a zero-balance billing for poor patients with the provision of medical financial aid from various government agencies in one place, Go said in a speech.
Those who would seek financial assistance for hospitalization could approach representatives from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH) at the Malasakit Center.
Go thanked the city government for its support towards the establishment of the Malasakit Center at the TPDH.
Mayor Lino Cayetano, his brother and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano – also the representative of the district of Taguig-Pateros – and his sister-in law and Taguig 2nd District Rep. Laarni Cayetano witnessed the center’s opening.
Presidential adviser for Visayas Michael Lloyd Diño also handed to the city government a check worth P5 million for the Malasakit Center for the monthly subsidy of the center.
