MANILA, Philippines — A drug suspect was gunned down after he allegedly shot dead two persons in Rosario, Batangas on Sunday.
The Calabarzon police said Mark Anthony Claveria shot Leo Guico, 45, and 12-year-old Cyruss Ethaniel Pusing at their house in Barangay Antipolo after Guico refused to lend him money.
Claveria escaped but was cornered and shot by pursuing civilians when his motorcycle crashed.
Police records show that Claveria was detained for seven years for a drug case. He was released under a plea bargaining deal.
Meanwhile, in La Union, public school teacher Andrew Glenn Quinto was shot by unidentified men in front of the Bacnotan National High School yesterday.
Police said Quinto suffered seven gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said the victim, who was arrested for illegal drugs on Feb. 18 last year, was ranked third on the watchlist in La Union.
