DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – The city government has suspended work in government offices in this city in view of the celebration of Victorio Edades Day.
Mayor Marc Brian Lim issued Executive Order 53 declaring the suspension of work after an ordinance declaring Dec. 23 of every year as Victorio Edades Day was promulgated.
Edades, who was born in Barangay Bolosan, received the National Artist award for painting in 1967.
“Edades’ influence in Philippine art cannot be overemphasized,” the EO read.
”Because of his extraordinary achievements... his extraordinary courage to go against the usual, he continues to bring honor and pride to the place of his birth,” it said.
