PCG implements ‘no leave, no break’ policy

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has implemented a “no leave, no break” policy during the Christmas break to ensure the safety of passengers at seaports nationwide.

PCG spokesman Capt. Armand Balilo said PCG personnel to be deployed at seaports have been advised that the policy would be implemented until Jan. 3.

“All PCG personnel should be on call,” Balilo told reporters on Friday.

Aside from deploying a sufficient number of security personnel and K9 teams, Balilo said the PCG would provide assistance to passengers.

Balilo urged passengers to avoid unregistered vessels, saying these seacraft are more prone to accidents.

Balilo said the PCG would monitor critical ports, such as those in Batangas, Mindoro, Caticlan, Iloilo, Matnog and  Sorsogon City.
