SC sets shari’a Bar exams

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) has set the special Bar examination for shari’a courts in January.

In a notice signed by clerk of court Edgar Aricheta dated Nov. 5, the high court said the 16th special shari’a Bar would be held on Jan. 19 and 26.

Aricheta said the SC approved a resolution granting the request of National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Secretary Saidamen Pangarungan to hold the shari’a Bar exams.

He said the high tribunal resolved the resolution upon the recommendation of the Office of the Bar Confidant. The OBC is authorized to accept petitions to take the shari’a Bar exams until Dec. 15.

Aricheta said Court of Appeals Associate Justice Japar Dimaampao was appointed  chairman of the board of examiners of the shari’a Bar.

The shari’a district and circuit courts were created under Presidential Decree 1083 or the Code of Muslim Personal Laws.
