Tisoy damage to agriculture hits P2 billion
MANILA, Philippines — The value of crops and agricultural products destroyed by Typhoon Tisoy has reached P2.097 billion, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The NDRRMC said the losses covered agricultural areas in Southern Tagalog, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas and Central Luzon.
The council reduced its official death toll from 13 to 12, saying that one of the fatalities during the storm was not typhoon-related.
Nineteen roads and two bridges damaged by Tisoy in Cordillera Administrative Region, Calabarzon, Mimoropa and Eastern Visayas remain closed.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is asking for in-kind donations for typhoon victims in Bicol and other areas.
Through the project “Tabang Bikol,” the DILG partnered with Cebu Pacific and the Civil Aeronautics Board to provide free cargo space for the delivery of relief goods from Manila to the areas struck by the typhoon.
DILG Secretary Eduardo Año urged private companies, civil society organizations and local governments to send their donations through the airline company.
In Isabela, two persons died and at least 7,811 people were displaced due to flashfloods.
Authorities said the bodies of Rosendo Talub and Dominador Bacani were recovered by villagers after being carried by floods in Barangays Bayabo East and Lanna, respectively.
