Man kills ex-girlfriend, stabs self
MANILA, Philippines — A man is facing a charge of murder for stabbing dead his former girlfriend in a jealous rage in Valenzuela City last week.
Carissa Pajuay, 25, was stabbed more than 20 times by Richard Lao in Barangay Canumay East, Valenzuela last Nov. 23.
Carissa’s father Maximo said his daughter was on her way home at around 10 p.m. when she was attacked by Lao in a fit of rage. She was still able to call her parents for help.
“Ma, tulungan mo ako, si (Ma, help me, it’s) Richard!” Carissa’s mother Evangeline quoted her daughter as saying.
The attack was recorded on surveillance footage and Lao was seen stabbing himself as he walked away from the scene. He is confined at a hospital, police said.
Lao had been harassing Carissa since they broke up in January this year, Maximo said.
The suspect at one time barged into Carissa’s room slashed a photo of her with a blade, Evangeline said.
“Masakit, tama lang na makasuhan siya. Sa ginawa niya sa anak ko, papatawarin ko pa ba siya (It’s painful. It’s right for him to be charged. Should I forgive him for what he did to my daughter)?” Maximo told The STAR yesterday
