6 nabbed for forgery in Manila
MANILA, Philippines — Six persons were arrested in a sting in Manila yesterday for allegedly producing forged identification cards for persons with disability (PWD) and senior citizens.
Rizaldy Sayana, 35; Carlo Magno, 55; Carlito Ibarra, 53; Chris Alonzo, 27; Joshua Flores, 22, and Angelica Aranda, 22, were apprehended by members of the Special Mayor’s Reaction team led by Maj. Rosalino Ibay Jr.
The suspects are allegedly members of a syndicate operating out of a house and an office along C.M. Recto Avenue.
Police officers confiscated forged land titles, Department of Education (DepEd) documents, diplomas, PWD and senior citizens IDs, electricity bills and Manila city government official receipts, among others.
The operation stemmed from a complaint by city social welfare chief Re Fugoso, who said that several persons claiming to be indigents sought financial and medical assistance using fake IDs.
The DepED also sought the assistance of Mayor Isko Moreno to address the proliferation of fake diplomas and school documents.
The suspects face charges of falsification of public documents.
