Chinese rescued from kidnappers in Pasay
MANILA, Philippines — Police officers who stopped a motorist for driving without a seatbelt ended up rescuing a Chinese man from his kidnappers in Pasay City on Monday night.
Members of the Highway Patrol Group flagged down Wang Jun, 29, at the Skyway toll plaza in front of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 for not wearing a seatbelt while driving, according to a police report.
The lawmen then noticed Li Gen, 32, and He Xiang, 29, beating up Zhou Zheng Qiang, 26, in the vehicle, a Chevrolet.
Zhou managed to get out of the vehicle and told the police officers that the three men kidnapped him.
The suspects said they kidnapped Zhou because he owned them a little less than P1 million, Pasay police chief Col. Bernard Yang told The STAR.
Charges of kidnapping have been filed against Li, He and Wang, who are currently detained at the city police station, Yang said.
