Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Six Chinese – five men and a woman – were arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap a Chinese couple in Manila on Friday night.

Case officer S/Sgt. Marlon Santos said the suspects –  Chan Dang, female, 28; Fen Xutian, 24; Kang Yin Hang, 30; Li Dong, 22; Yao Shu, 22; Li You Bang, 28 – are all residents of 20th floor Medical Plaza building in Makati.

The victims, Xu Jun and his wife Chloe Yuan, failed to get a booking at a hotel in Quiapo, Manila, police said.

As they stood in front of the Sunstar Hotel, the couple booked a Grab vehicle to take them to another hotel in Las Piñas. As they were about to board the vehicle at around 6:30 p.m., the suspects grabbed the victims and tried to force them into a van, according to police.

The commotion caught the attention of bystanders, who alerted officers at the Manila Police District Station 3.

The suspects are being held at the station pending the filing of charges.
