BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A native of Negros Occidental yesterday assumed his post as chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command.
Maj. Gen. Roberto Ancan of Victorias City replaced Maj. Gen. Dinoh Dolina.
Ancan, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1987, served as commander of the 11th Infantry Battalion and chief of staff of the 3rd Infantry Division based in Jamindan, Capiz.
Dolina, concurrent commander of the 3rd Infantry Division (ID), is retiring on Nov. 14.
Brig. Gen. Eric Vinuya, assistant division commander of 3rd ID and Joint Task Force Negros commander, was reported to be among those being groomed to replace Dolina.
Meanwhile, Northern Police District (NPD) chief Brig. Gen. Rolando Anduyan is the new head of the Northern Mindanao police.
Anduyan, a member of PMA Class of 1990, replaced Brig. Gen. Rafael Santiago, who was relieved from his post on Tuesday after Malacañang suspended him over an administrative case.
The turnover ceremony was held at Camp Alagar in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday.
Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, regional chief directorial staff of the National Capital Region Police Office, replaced Anduyan as NPD chief.
Santiago is facing an administrative complaint over a technical malversation case filed against him in 2012 when he was Zambales police director.
