Navotas gets ninth drug-cleared barangay

MANILA,Philippines — Barangay Bagumbayan in Navotas is the ninth village to be declared drug-cleared by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Mayor Toby Tiangco on Monday handed out the PDEA certificate to barangay chairperson Marilou Gonzales certifying their barangay cleared.

The other villages cleared by the PDEA are North Bay Boulevard South Dagat-Dagatan, NBBS Proper, NBBS Kaunlaran, Navotas East and Navotas West, Tanza I and Tanza II, and San Rafael Village. 

For a barangay to be cleared, the residents in its drugs watchlist need to be invited for rehabilitation, and the barangay hall to become a drug-free workplace with anti-drug activities.

Tiangco called on the residents to report to the city hall any suspicious drug activities.
