MANILA, Philippines — Convicted drug trafficker Mary Jane Veloso, who is on death row in Indonesia, may finally be able to testify against her two illegal recruiters in December.

Presiding Judge Anarica Castillo-Reyes of the Nueva Ecija Regional Trial Court Branch 88 has tentatively scheduled the date of Veloso’s deposition on Dec. 12 against her alleged recruiters Maria Cristina Sergio and Julius Lacanilao, according to National Union of People’s Lawyers president Edre Olalia.

Sergio and Lacanilao are facing charges of human trafficking, illegal recruitment and swindling.

“The trial court set the taking of Veloso’s testimony as the last prosecution witness,” Olalia said.
