Good Samaritan dies in Las Piñas smashup

MANILA, Philippines – A man died when a car hit him as he was helping a motorcycle rider in Las Piñas City Thursday night.

Edwin Santos, 52, died while being treated at the Ospital ng Parañaque from injuries he sustained, police said.

Santos was riding a motorcycle when he stopped to help Mark Degorio, 25, whose motorcycle malfunctioned along C-5 Road Extension at around 9 p.m.

Jose Dean, who was driving an Isuzu Trooper, tried but failed to avoid hitting the two motorcycle riders. The Trooper’s front fender slammed into Santos while its left side hit the right side of a Hyundai Eon driven by Aldreily Jahulla.

Dean was arrested on charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
