CASIGURAN, Aurora, Philippines — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has recovered illegally cut lumber worth P1.7 million in the Sierra Madre watershed.
Merliza Torre, officer-in-charge of the community environment and natural resources office, said 21,332.11 board feet of various species were seized in Dipaculao, Dinalungan, Casiguran and Dilasag towns, which lie along the midsection of the Sierra Madre mountain range.
Torre said among the recovered species are narra, red lauan and white almond.
“From January to June alone, we have confiscated more than 9,638.34 board feet of lumber... excluding... wood products from illegal loggers,” Torre said.
