DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio yesterday warned the public against a trader who has been using her name for a money-making scheme.
“It has come to my attention that a middleman for the trade of fossilized taklobo or giant clams used my name to evade police arrest in Calatagan, Batangas,” Carpio said.
President Duterte’s daughter said she is not involved in such trade, which she considers a criminal activity.
“I do not condone any criminal activity and have not allowed anyone to use my name if they are caught by the police, AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines), National Bureau of Investigation) or any other law enforcement organization,” Carpio said.
The mayor urged authorities to arrest unscrupulous people using her name.
