HIV cases up in 3 Bulacan cities

MALOLOS, Philippines — Three cities in Bulacan have registered the most number of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections in the country.

These are Meycauayan, Malolos and San Jose del Monte.

Ron Chie Santos, head nurse of the HIV unit of the Bulacan Medical Center, announced this during yesterday’s first LGBTQ+ leadership summit.

Santos said a total of 2,270 HIV cases were recorded in Bulacan from 1984 to May this year. San Jose del Monte registered 257 cases, followed by Meycauayan with 123 and Malolos with 115.

The towns of Sta. Maria and Marilao recorded 102 HIV cases each.
