Chinese trader held for assault on auxiliary cop

Jennifer Rendon - The Philippine Star

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — For allegedly throwing a cigarette butt on the face of an auxiliary police personnel, a Chinese businessman was arrested in Boracay on Sunday.

Nolly Cuatriz said he approached Dennis Chong, 50, and warned him for violating Malay town’s local ordinance when he saw him smoking in Barangay Balabag.

Chong, who reportedly owns a travel agency in Boracay, flicked his cigarette at Cuatriz’s face.

The Boracay Tourism Regulatory Enforcement Unit said Chinese citizens are top violators of local ordinances on the island. It recorded 739 violations involving Chinese citizens from January to April.
