MANILA, Philippines — Four policemen were relieved from their posts after they were caught drinking while on duty at a police checkpoint in Las Piñas City before dawn yesterday.
Pat. Samuel Inoc and Cpls. Alquin Orgen, Randy Danao and Robemar Abales also face administrative charges, said Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, director of the National Capital Region Police Office.
“They would be meted the severest sanctions to warn other policemen not to follow their bad example. Some policemen do not learn their lessons well,” Eleazar said.
Eleazar said he sought the help of newly installed Internal Affairs Service-National Capital Region head Brig. Gen. Gerry Galvan in disciplining policemen in Metro Manila.
Galvan caught the policemen drinking liquor at a checkpoint they set up near a gasoline station along Alabang Zapote Road in Barangay Talon Uno at around 2 a.m.
Brig. Gen. Nolasco Bathan, Southern Police District director, ordered the relief of the four policemen and their commander, Capt. Gladys Biare, and directed them to perform community service.– Ralph Edwin Villanueva
