MANILA, Philippines — An official of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) was gunned down by an unidentified assailant in Muntinlupa City yesterday.

Ruperto Traya Jr., 53, chief administrative officer 3 of the BuCor, died at the scene from a gunshot to the head.

City police chief Col. Gerardo Umayao said their investigation showed that Traya got off his car to open the gate of his rented parking lot along Amparo street in Barangay Poblacion when the gunman arrived and fired at the victim.

Witnesses said the suspect fled after the attack.

Probers said they have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
