CPP leader nabbed in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines — The secretary general of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) was apprehended during a raid on a condominium building in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.
Esterlita Suaybaguio did not resist arrest when police and military personnel swooped down on her safehouse at Unit 9H, Escalades Condominium Tower 5, along 20th Avenue in Cubao at around 1:50 a.m.
Authorities said they recovered from Suaybaguio a 9mm pistol, a hand grenade and several documents.
The raiders were armed with search warrants issued by Executive Judge Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 89 for illegal possession of firearms and explosive.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar headed the raid along with Brig. Gen. Alex Luna, commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines NCR; Quezon City police director Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel, and Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves, deputy director for operations of the NCRPO.
