MRT-3 train ceiling leaks during downpour

MANILA, Philippines — The ceiling of a Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) train leaked during a downpour on Saturday morning.

A video posted on microblogging site Twitter by Cathy Rose Garcia at past 10 a.m. on Saturday showed water streaming from the train that she rode.

When the MRT-3 management asked her for the train car number, Garcia said she did not get the information but reported the incident to the security guard upon alighting at the Ayala station.

No passengers were offloaded from the train with the leaking ceiling, she said in earlier news reports.

The train car’s air conditioning unit was replaced on the same day the incident happened, MRT-3 director for operations Michael Capati told The STAR yesterday.

A similar event occurred over a year ago, when Facebook user Giselle Visitacion Tolosa captured on video the moment water poured from the ceiling of the train coach allotted for women, senior citizens and disabled people.
