MANILA, Philippines — A teller of a lotto outlet in Makati was nabbed for stealing P17,000 in lotto sales on Saturday.

Leila Escote, 39, was taken into police custody on theft charges.

Heidi Vidallo, 48, a bank employee and owner of the lotto outlet in Barangay Pio del Pilar, told police that she discovered the theft at past 10 a.m.

Vidallo said Escote remitted only P61,676.18 in lotto sales.

The complainant said the lotto earnings for the day should be P78,676.18.

Escote admitted that she took P17,000 from the lotto sales, prompting Vidallo to seek police help.

President Duterte has stopped all gaming activities of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, including lotto and small town lottery due to alleged corruption in the PCSO.
