4 Binondo bank heist suspects in police custody

MANILA, Philippines — Four suspects in the July 11 robbery of a Metrobank branch in Binondo, Manila are in police custody, according to insiders.

Brothers Jing-Jing and Gilbert Mofan and Jerry Galleto surrendered to deny their involvement in the P3-million heist, sources told The STAR.

The Mofan brothers approached Brig. Gen. Albert Ferro, director of the police Drug Enforcement Group, where they are undergoing tactical interrogation.

Galleto surrendered to the provincial director of Misamis Occidental police, sources said..

A fourth suspect, Noli Casuela, is detained at the Valenzuela police station on an unrelated charge.

The bank’s guards, shown photos of known bank robbery suspects, identified at least six as the men who robbed the bank around half an hour before it opened for the day.

Surveillance footage purporatedly showed the robbers knocking on the bank’s doors and being allowed inside.
