3 alleged robbers slain in shootout

MANILA, Philippines — Three alleged members of a robbery gang were killed in an alleged shootout with police in Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

The suspects – identified as Dunhill dela Cruz, 35; Jessie Forte, 38; and Jeffrey Gloria – died at the scene along Biak na Bato street in Barangay Sto. Domingo at around 12:45 a.m.

Police probers said the slain suspects may have been members of the Nonoy Hermosa gang and authorities are verifying reports the gang was planning to stage a robbery in the area.

A fourth person was able to escape on a motorcycle and he is now the subject of a manhunt, police said.

Two .45 caliber Remington pistols, an STI Apeiro pistol, bullet casings and a motorcycle were recovered at the scene of the encounter.

The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City police.
