MANILA, Philippines — A man was killed in an ambush while he was driving along Osmeña Highway in Makati City yesterday morning.

Jesus de Guzman Dimayuga, 63, died from a gunshot wound in the chest, according to the city police’s investigation unit chief Major Gideon Ines Jr.

Dimayuga and his wife Ramona were cruising along Osmeña Highway in a silver Honda CRV at around 8:25 a.m. when they were attacked by a motorcycle-riding gunman at the highway’s intersection with Cailles street.

Ramona told police that the gunman – who wore an olive green jacket, a white helmet and a mask – blocked their car and opened fire, hitting the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The assailant drove off toward EDSA in Pasay City, police said.

The couple was going home from church when the incident happened, Ines said, adding that police have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
