Kin sue clinic for liposuction patient’s death
MANILA, Philippines — Relatives of a 43-year-old businesswoman who died after undergoing liposuction filed a complaint yesterday against a beauty clinic in Makati City.
Nory Bobadilla’s relatives filed the complaint against two doctors of the Contours Advanced Face and Body Sculpting Institute, according to city police chief Maj. Gideon Ines Jr.
Bobadilla, a mother of five, flew to Makati from Negros Occidental for the procedure last July 3.
Ines said doctor Claudine Roura and anesthesiologist Katrina Bulseco tried to revive Bobadilla when she stopped breathing during the procedure, “but to no avail. She was rushed to the Parañaque Doctors’ Hospital (intensive care unit), where she was in a comatose condition until she died on July 6.”
He said they are conducting an investigation and gathering evidence to file charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against the doctors.
Quoting the two doctors named in the complaint, Ines said they shouldered all of Bobadilla’s hospitalization and burial expenses.
The woman’s relatives, however, are determined to push through with filing cases against the doctors.
