MMDA ready to enforce EDSA bus ban
MANILA, Philippines — Everything is all set for the implementation of the provincial bus ban of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) as the interim bus terminal in Valenzuela City is almost complete, an official said yesterday.
MMDA traffic czar Bong Nebrija said that they are getting things done as far as the provincial bus ban is concerned. He said the MMDA and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) inspected the Valenzuela interim terminal last Friday.
Nebrija said the facility will serve as a temporary terminal for all provincial buses coming from northern Metro Manila.
The terminal has the required ramp for commuters with special needs and clean restrooms for all while the construction of the tunnel that connects the loading and unloading area is ongoing.
He said the interim terminal will be opened after the LTFRB comes up with the guidelines for the shortened franchise routes of provincial buses and extended routes for city buses.
For now, Nebrija said they are waiting for the go signal of the LTFRB and the Department of Transportation as far as the bus ban is concerned. The LTFRB is an attached agency of the DOTr.
