MANILA, Philippines — Two New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed in a gunfight with militiamen in Negros Oriental on Friday.
Capt. Cenon Pancito, spokesman for the 3rd Infantry Division, said the fatalities have yet to be identified.
Pancito said the firefight occurred when the rebels attacked a detachment of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit in Sitio Kakha, Barangay Talalak, Sta. Catalino.
He said magazines for an M16 rifle, a hand grenade, electrical wire, assorted medicine and personal belongings were recovered at the scene.
