Intel cop slain near Crame

MANILA, Philippines — A policeman assigned to the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group was gunned down near the PNP headquarters at Camp Crame yesterday morning.

S/Sgt. Fernando Diamzon, 49, and a colleague were riding their respective motorcycles along Boni Serrano Avenue when Diamzon was attacked by assailants riding a gray Yamaha NMAX at around 8:50 a.m., probers said.

Diamzon, who had just driven from Camp Crame, died at the scene.

Recovered at the crime scene were seven used bullet casings and a lead core.

Diamzon’s belongings, including a 9mm Mariner pistol and two sets of uniforms, were also recovered at the scene.

Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel has formed a special investigation task group to probe Diamzon’s death.
