John Unson - The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO  , Philippines  —  Army soldiers will secure this province after Marines were pulled out earlier this week for deployment in Sulu to fight Abu Sayyaf bandits.

The Army soldiers were assigned to Upi, South Upi and Datu Blash Sinsuat towns, according to the 6th Infantry Division.

Maj. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana gave assurance that no security vaccum was created with the pullout of the Marines.

“We also have the Maguindanao police supporting our security missions in these three towns,” Sobejana said.
