MANILA, Philippines — A woman who allegedly duped her victims of money in exchange for fake jobs in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) was arrested in a sting in Quezon City over the weekend, police said yesterday.
Janine Ivy Cicson is facing charges of violating Republic Act 8042 or the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act and swindling, said Maj. Gen. Amador Corpus, director of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
The suspect was caught in an entrapment operation at a bus loading bay in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa on Sunday at around 4:30 p.m.
The suspect is accused of defrauding an undetermined number of victims in exchange for jobs as receptionists, drivers and warehousemen in Dubai with a monthly salary ranging from P50,000 to P55,000.
