Search on for missing PCG diver

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continues its search for its diver who went missing in Tubbataha Reef in Palawan on June 3.

Capt. Armand Balilo, spokesman for the PCG, said on Saturday that Bryan Nazareno was on board M/Y Palausport when he reportedly went missing at around 4 p.m. near Amos Rock.

Nazareno was with a group of men from sporting goods shop Squires Bingham Sports, Balilo said.

On Friday morning, a five-man team from PCG’s special operations unit sailed to Narra, Espanoloa and other nearby islets on board an anti-terrorist boat to look for Nazareno.

After searching for 10 hours, the team failed to locate the diver.

Meanwhile, a monitoring control and surveillance vessel of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources twice went to Tubbataha, but failed to find Nazareno.

Another team from the Philippine Air Force on board a Cessna plane circled the area for three hours, but it too failed to locate the diver.

The PCG, along with the Navy  and the Air Force  have been searching for Nazareno since Wednesday.
