Report a drug suspect, be P10,000 richer

Jennifer Rendon - The Philippine Star

ILOILO CITY , Philippines  —  A village in this city has offered a reward of P10,000 for information leading to the arrest of drug suspects in their area.

Posters announcing the reward are posted in strategic areas in Barangay Don Esteban in La Paz district.

Village councilman Reynaldo Brito said the reward is an initiative of barangay captain Rodrigo Dellomes to boost their campaign against illegal drugs.

Brito said the money would come from Dellomes’ own pocket.

However, details on the grant of monetary reward have yet to be determined.

“We welcome their initiative. It would be a help in the government’s campaign against illegal drugs. At the same time, I want to know how this reward system would go about,”Col. Martin Defensor, Iloilo City police chief, said.

Defensor said the guidelines should be put in writing.

He instructed Maj. Mark Evan Salvo, La Paz police chief, to coordinate with Dellomes.

Defensor said Barangay Don Esteban was classified as moderately affected with illegal drugs.
