MANILA, Philippines — Senator-elect Christopher “Bong” Go yesterday visited the victims of a fire in Quezon City to personally provide assistance.
At least 150 families were left homeless by a fire on Ilagan street in Barangay Paltok last June 4.
Go said he asked the assistance of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to help provide relief assistance.
“I also have friends in the private sector who brought financial aid and grocery packs,” he said, adding that he will ask the DTI to help those who wish to avail themselves of livelihood assistance.
The National Housing Authority was also present to deliver housing assistance to the victims.
He also offered health assistance to those who are in need of medical attention through the Malasakit Center, which makes it easier for indigent patients to avail of medical and financial assistance from the government.
