MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has urged Filipinos travelling outside the country to avail themselves of travel insurance with medical coverage.
The DFA on Friday issued an advisory, noting an increasing number of Filipinos who find themselves in need of urgent medical attention while visiting Singapore.
“A travel insurance provides protection from any unforeseen circumstances, such as medical treatment,” said the agency.
“It guarantees medical coverage, thereby easing the burden on the part of the traveler, his/her family and friends in case of emergency,” it added.
The DFA encouraged Filipino travelers to consult with their travel agents or visit the website of their airline of choice for more information about the benefits of a travel insurance.
No details about the supposed incidents in Singapore have been released.
