PNPA cadet dies of heat stroke

MANILA, Philippines — A  cadet of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) died of apparent heat stroke a day after he collapsed during a training exercise on Wednesday.

PNPA director Brig. Gen. Jose Chiquito Malayo said Al-Rasheed Pendatun, 21, a resident of Bukidnon, was with other cadets at the academy’s grounds at Camp Mario Castañeda in Silang, Cavite when the incident occurred.

Pendatun died while being treated at the QualiMed Hospital in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

“The  PNPA has assured the family that all assistance will be provided... and that a deeper inquiry of the situation is being looked into,” Malayo said.
