Man runs amuck in Negros; 4 dead

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines  —   A man went amuck and hacked to death three members of his family and a barangay kagawad in Ilog, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Armed with a bolo, the suspect identified as William Magbato allegedly killed his wife Merlinda, nephew Ryan Olitan, sister-in-law Ramonita Magbato and Nelson Balsomo, councilman of Barangay Balicotoc,  Lt. Col. Patricio Tomales, 15th Infantry Battalion commander, said.

Tomales said a soldier restrained the suspect after shooting him in the hand.

A certain Jessie Terones and Jamie Tiaga were wounded.

Barangay chairman Mark Joseph Valenciano said the suspect told him that he was not aware of what he did to the victims.
