EARIST president's driver was gunman’s target – police
MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District (MPD) is looking into the possibility that the driver of the president of the Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) was the target of a gun attack in Paco last week.
Editha Pillo, 60, was boarding her Toyota Fortuner driven by Catalino Buenvenida when the gunman on a motorcycle opened fire at the corner of Pedro Gil and Antonio Isip streets.
Pillo and Buenvenida survived the attack, but they suffered gunshots to the body.
“The gunman went up to the driver’s window and fired shots,” probers said.
The assailant may have targeted Buenvenida for his speedy promotion from a utility personnel to motorpool services chief, according to MPD information head Lt. Col. Carlo Magno Manuel.
