SULTAN KUDARAT, Philippines – Eighteen people were injured in an explosion that ripped through a restaurant in Isulan town Wednesday.
Police Lt. Col. Aldrin Gonzalez, spokesman of the Police Regional Office-12, said probers are still trying to determine the kind of explosive that went off inside Carlito’s Restaurant in Barangay Kalawag in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
Gonzalez said the Isulan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Council reported that 18 people were hurt in the explosion.
MDRRMC officials said some of the victims were minors.
Major Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said their intelligence units are now helping the Isulan municipal police investigate the incident.
Two bomb attacks in Isulan last year killed five people and injured more than 30 others.
The PRO-12 and the 6th ID have blamed the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters for the 2018 twin bombings in the same town.
Gonzalez said investigators are yet to identify who the culprits were in the bombing inside Carlito’s Restaurant.
