MANILA, Philippines — The so-called united opposition in Romblon has declared its unequivocal support to Gov. Eduardo Firmalo, who is running for congressman in May.
Led by former governor Natalio Beltran III, the group said Firmalo is expected to advance the welfare and interest of Romblomanos at the House of Representatives.
Firmalo is running against former congressman Eleandro Jesus Madrona, who is facing graft charges before the Sandiganbayan in connection with the fertilizer scam.
Former vice governor Mel Madrid, former mayors Juliet Fiel of Looc, Ramon Galicia of Alcantara and Festo Galang Jr. of Cajidiocan as well as former provincial board member Benjamin Irao Jr. are among those supporting Firmalo’s candidacy.
The group also endorsed former Calatrava mayor Bong Fabella for governor and provincial board member Dongdong Ylagan for vice governor.
