MMDA to shut down Sevilla Bridge

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will temporarily close Sevilla Bridge in San Juan City today.

In an advisory issued yesterday, the MMDA said the bridge would be closed from 10 p.m. today until 9 a.m. tomorrow for the transfer of barges to be used for the San Juan River alignment.

The alignment of the river is part of the Skyway Stage 3 project, according to the MMDA.

The agency advised motorists to take alternate routes.

Five roads were closed to vehicular traffic last night due to repairs by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

The southbound lane of C-5 Road in front of Tiendesitas in Pasig City, EDSA Ermin Garcia, New York and Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City were closed to motorists.

The northbound lane of C-5 Road in Market, Market Taguig and EDSA Magallanes were also closed for repairs.

The MMDA said these roads would be opened at around 5 a.m. on Monday.

The MMDA will also close a portion of the Magallanes Interchange beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday “until further notice” as part of the agency’s traffic management plan.

The MMDA traffic engineering center said at least 7,722 vehicles traverse the interchange from Manila to EDSA while 19,304 vehicles pass EDSA to Nichols.
