Immigration to blacklist Omani over sex trafficking
MANILA, Philippines — An Omani man has been recommended for blacklisting before the Bureau of Immigration (BI) board of commissioners for allegedly enticing two Filipinas to become sex workers abroad, an official said yesterday.
In a statement, BI port operations division chief Grifton Medina said they recommended that Khalid Gharib Al Shuraiqi be placed in the immigration blacklist after two of his would-be victims were barred from leaving for Bangkok last Sunday.
The two women told the BI that they agreed to meet up with Al Shuraiqi in Thailand after he promised to pay her and her companion P5,000 a day if they would have sex with him for eight days, Medina said.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said foreigners enticing Filipinos to engage in prostitution are considered undesirable aliens.
The women were turned over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking for further investigation and assistance.
